Are you a resident of Redmond or its neighboring areas, looking for an outdoor haven to explore with your family? Look no further than Marymoor Park! With its sprawling playgrounds, bike trails, and an array of activities, Marymoor Park stands as one of King County’s most beloved recreational spots, attracting over 3 million visitors annually.
Nestled within 640 acres of natural beauty, Marymoor Park offers something for everyone. From soccer and baseball fields to picturesque trails perfect for leisurely strolls, the park boasts a diverse range of amenities. Thrill-seekers will be delighted by the towering 35-foot freestanding climbing structure, while nature enthusiasts can unwind along the shores of Lake Sammamish.
One of the park’s standout features is its expansive dog park, providing ample space for our furry friends to frolic and socialize. Moreover, Marymoor Park serves as a vibrant venue for special events, from the awe-inspiring performances of Cirque Du Soleil to unforgettable summer concerts under the open sky.
Four Playgrounds! Fun for Every Age
For families with young children, Marymoor Park is a paradise of play. During our recent visit, my family and I had the pleasure of exploring THREE of the park’s FOUR playgrounds, with our top picks being those near Parking Lot K and the Marymoor Park Office. These well-designed play areas offer endless opportunities for adventure and imagination, making them ideal for young toddlers to hone their motor skills. Our toddler’s favorite was the zip line with a chair!
Biking and Rock Climbing
One of the highlights for us was the vast paved area adjacent to “Parking Lot I,” where kids of all ages can ride bikes and scooters to their heart’s content. As proponents of balance biking, we appreciated the park’s bike-friendly environment, perfect for teaching little ones the joys of two-wheeled exploration.
But Marymoor Park isn’t just for the little ones. Families with older children can embark on exhilarating bike rides along the park’s extensive trails, weaving through its picturesque landscapes. For a longer adventure, consider tackling the Sammamish River Trail, a scenic route stretching 10.1 miles from Bothell to Marymoor Park, offering glimpses of the region’s natural beauty along the way.
Additionally, thrill-seekers of all ages can test their climbing skills on Marymoor Park’s amazing FREE rock climbing wall. This public structure provides a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy a unique outdoor activity together. Just remember to bring your own climbing gear for a safe and enjoyable experience.
While the rock climbing wall is a fantastic addition to the park’s amenities, some visitors may find the wood chip flooring a bit iffy. It’s essential to exercise caution, especially if bouldering without a pad. However, for kids sticking to low, sideways climbs near the ground, the experience can still be a blast. My toddler certainly had a great time exploring this exciting feature of Marymoor Park!
Plan your Trip: Parking Fees
It’s important to note that Marymoor Park operates with a $1.00 parking fee, which goes towards funding King County Parks. Parking machines accept $1 or $5 bills, as well as coins, making it convenient for visitors to contribute to the upkeep of this cherished recreational space.
